Bootleg merch, and a chat thread.
Good evening, goons and goblins. I hope everyone is getting excited about our in-person meeting opportunity in Chicago this coming weekend. I’ve seen a few comments on previous posts but I wanted to create a devoted location to chat/plan and showcase some bootleg merch that will be for sale.
First, bookclub pins and stickers featuring our favorite snek, made up special to serve as our bookclub mascot. These short-run pins (pictured below) cost a little more to make, and there are only 8 available so I’m asking for 5 bucks. DM if you wanna reserve one or just carry cash and push your fellow bookclubbers out of the way. The sticker version is “a few for a dollar” and are perfectly sized to cover up any unremovable “now a movie” sticker and/or to express to friends and strangers alike via your laptop, water bottle, kindle, etc. that you and your internet friends are NOT virgin losers and are VERY cool.
Also pictured below are $5 pins featuring our less *challenged* snek. A perfect companion for those interested in THE premier bootleg merch poster featured by Matt Welch in Firehose #103 (poster also pictured below). Nika Scothorne, aka Not a True Scotsman, is charging a BARGAIN $25 (cash preferred) for these gorgeous limited-run babies, numbered 1 - 1001. You’ll also walk away with a sweet little explainer card so, again, you can prove to your IRL friends how friggin rad your internet friends are. I’ll be selling on Friday; meet the artist Saturday.
And finally, pencil in September 22nd for our meeting on On Liberty.
I cannot wait to meet you all this weekend. Travel safe, that’s an order.

Gimme one of everything
I am going to make some book bags tomorrow - I like a good book bag, iron on. I've pulled Nica's pic and a couple others. I'll post pics when/if they come out nice. Currently annoyed because the two bags I ordered had to be reshipped. If they make it, I'll have one of those for someone. I'll look up what I paid if they come. If not, I'll have 10 or so bags I DIY.
Sidenote: I'm heading to the baseball game on Saturday before the show if anyone's interested. I should've asked before. I'm in section 321 - no blockage, shade/cover, good view.
Also, I'm staying in what is apparently the oldest gayborhood in the country, Northalstead or Boystown. I had no idea until I Google streeted my air B&B and it was surrounded by rainbows. I picked it because it's a 10 minute walk from Wrigley and a mile from Constellation if I want to walk. But apparently I'm in for so many more treats. As a full-fledged fruit fly, I will be sending smirky jealous-of-me photos to my if-I-were-a-gay-man-we'd-marry friend, Craig.
