Shakespeare Summer
First of many
Our first read will be our history, and highest voted across three categories, is Richard III, discussing on June 28th 8:00pm Eastern (Zoom link to follow). This conversation will also be our second on Choose Your Own Adventure, if you want to tag on some Lolita and 1776.
Othello will be our second play, since it ran away with the Tragedy category. Discussion date to be determined.
We have a threeway1 tie for Comedy & Romance so, since bookclub is a tyranny in name only, and there are no points for second place, we’ll vote again to determine the winner. Just remember when it's over out there, we're all on the same team.
All that being said, don’t limit yourself. The Bard sure didn’t. Choosing select titles helps folks focus and helps us set a goal as a group. But the coming summer is vast, with benches becoming men.2 Imagine the possibilities…September starts and you’ve read not one, not two, not three Shakespeare titles but many. You begin communicating by sonnet and feather quill, and wearing goofy hats. You start to see the world as your stage, and to your own self you are true.
Farewell! Thou art too dear for my possessing.
